Panel 1
Li Jing and the pilot wrestle, the scalpel raised and spitting electricity.
Pilot: Damn you, leper!
Captions: They call us lepers. Wordplay. You get it?
Panel 2
Li Jing drives her blade into the screaming pilot.
Captions: Yeah, you get it. Wait, was that voice coming from his chest?
Panel 3
Li Jing tears open the pilot’s jacket, revealing a butterfly head where their chest would be expected to be.
Captions: Huh. Fake head. Told you it happens. Butterfly people have infiltrated America? Explains a lot about their politicians.
Panel 4
Li Jing pulls the blade from the pilot and pulls the pilot from their seat.
Captions: Some female butterflies can reject a male’s sperm at will. That’s why they think humans can do the same.
Panel 5
The pilot is thrown from the plane as Li Jing turns the jet around.
Captions: And with hindsight, the compound eyes should have given them away... Looks like I’m not going to make it home.
Panel 6
The jet tears across the American landscape, the sky laden with butterfly swarms. In the background, the vandalized mountain of The Six Grandfathers stands as testament to the history of this infiltration. In the foreground, the butterflies attack their usual targets; people indigenous, black, Jewish, trans, pregnant, poor, etc. These people have gathered together and aren’t going down without a fight...
Captions: Instead I’m off to Washington, to introduce various arms of government to my electro-scalpel. My name is Li Jing. I hunt butterflies.
